Proofreading

Proofreading

When I proof your transcript, I look at everything from cover to cert, examining each page for errors in punctuation, spelling, wrong word usage, spacing, format, and contextual inconsistencies.  I check dates, exhibits, attorneys’ names and addresses, and do light research as needed.  I work to learn and follow your style preferences and formatting guidelines as well as relying on trusted resources to make sense of the spoken word and have it read well.  My goal is to help you produce the most accurate, readable transcript possible.

My proofreading process:

  •   Contact me with the page count and due date to confirm my availability.  It is especially appreciated if you let me know ASAP about larger, rush, and expedite jobs so I can plan accordingly.
  •  For PDF proofing, email the transcript to me in PDF format.   If you need to know how to convert your transcript to PDF format, click here.  For Case CATalyst proofing, send the file to me via Dropbox or sendthisfile.                                                                                                                    ***For transcripts that are 150 pages or longer, please send it in 50-page sections so I can start working on it and help you complete it faster.   I would ask the same of rush and expedite transcripts that are more than 50 pages in length.                                                                                                      ***If this is my first time proofreading for you, please complete the Preference Sheet so I can be aware of your style preferences.  If possible, it would also be helpful for you to send a sample of a completed transcript that I could read through to become familiar with your style.
  •  For PDF proofing, I will return only the annotated pages.  I circle the line numbers where I have made suggested annotations as red corrections and yellow highlights.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      For Case CATalyst proofing, you will see the suggested annotations through Track Changes, and as inserted conflicts, scanstops, and hidden notes.
